Skip the chemical-filled pumpkin lattes and enjoy this delicious and nutritious smoothie instead. For extra oomph, add a quarter cup of strongly brewed black coffee or a shot of espresso.
Ingredients
1 cup unsweetened and carrageenan-free almond milk (or skip the store bought milk and simply use one cup water and 1/4 cup raw almonds or raw cashews)
1/3 cup pumpkin puree (Farmer’s Market brand comes in a box or BPA-free can; be sure not to buy pumpkin pie filling, which often contains added sugar)
1 frozen banana, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/8 tsp turmeric
1-2 tablespoons of your favorite seeds such as hemp, chia, or flax
1 scoop vegan vanilla protein powder (I love Garden of Life RAW Organic Vanilla)
Directions
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Top with cacao nibs.
p.s. This is also delicious with a small scoop of unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder!
Enjoy!
This recipe sounds great!
I might even try it with coconut kefir.
I do have one question: Does it contain any pumpkin?? or just the spice? interesting…I may try a 1/4 c pumpkin too :)
Hope you are well!
ps I’ve had a number of people ask about the next trail map to wellness “spa” day. Considering a fall event and spring…may be calling you soon!
Yes, Laura it does contain pumpkin! I completely forgot to put in here in the recipe until someone pointed it out to me on Facebook today! It’s been wrong for a year now. :-( I did adjust the recipe on the site to say 1/3 cup pumpkin puree.
This is DELICIOUS and so easy to make. I used pea protein milk, an unfrozen banana (but added ice) and made my own pumpkin pie spice. I had some smoothie left after my first glass, so I put it back in the blender with more ice and some black coffee. Yum….
Lol, I would definitely make this differently now to make the macronutrients 75% fat, 20% protein and only 5% carbs. It’s too high carb as written!
