Delight in a Dip

Taking a detox bath helps your body eliminate toxins and absorb any nutrients or minerals in the water. That’s why one of the best additions to your bath is magnesium sulfate, also known as good old-fashioned Epsom salts.

Soaking in Epsom salts helps replenish your body’s magnesium level.

This is particularly important because approximately 70 percent of Americans are deficient in magnesium—one of the causes of high blood pressure. In addition, the sulfate flushes toxins from your body; plus Epsom salt baths help circulation and relax sore muscles and joints.

Get in the bath after the salt has dissolved and be careful; the salt makes the bottom of the tub very slippery. Soak for at least 30 minutes; the longer you soak, the more minerals your body will absorb.

You could also add sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to your bath.

Baking soda is anti-fungal, softens skin, and can neutralize the effects of radiation from x-rays, mammograms, and any of the other sources that bombard us daily. Soaking in a baking soda bath is also great after riding in an airplane—another source of radiation most people aren’t aware of. Choose aluminum-free baking soda. Aluminum is not your friend.

Another fantastic addition to your bath is apple cider vinegar.

Not only does it draw toxins from your skin, it can improve your body’s acid-alkaline balance. Add one to two cups of any or all of these ingredients mentioned.

For optimal bathing, use water that has been filtered to remove the chlorine and choose a medium-hot temperature. Water that’s too hot strips the natural oils from your skin. For an extra special bath, add your favorite essential oils.

Last, if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, or other serious medical condition, consult your doctor before doing any of these baths. In addition, some people experience lightheadedness after bathing, so don’t take these (or any other) baths when you’re alone.

Besides, having company is also more fun!

Relax, enjoy, and feel the stress melt away.
